Fifth Annual Keokuk Zombie Walk Friday, October 9

10/02/2015

Southeastern Community College Keokuk campus Drama Club will host Plague Parade Zombie Walk 2015 on Friday, October 9. The walk will begin at Estes Park at Fifth and Main Street in Keokuk. Registration starts at 5:00 p.m. The contest starts promptly at 6:00 p.m., with walk to follow.

Creator and organizer of the event, SCC English Instructor and Drama Club Advisor, Jodi Cook, says the contest and Walk have been growing in popularity every year. Exceeding 150 participants and many more spectators, individuals line up along the Walk route to watch and record the disheveled horde shambling by.

“Considered performance art, Zombie Walks and Runs are becoming increasingly popular every year in urban areas.  Participants create a visual canvas of their bodies and then perform as a group,” says Cook.  “I am amazed by the talent and creativity expressed, and the atmosphere is light and fun for all ages.”

There are many prizes for child, youth, group, and individual categories with one grand prize of $100 for Best Overall Zombie. The event is free and open to the public. Bring out your dead!
