What does it mean to be in the Hockey Club?
- Playing Coed Floor Hockey
Floor hockey is played in tennis shoes, so you don't even have to know how to skate. Anyone can play! The Hockey Club plays in the Loren Walker Arena, and the the club provides any hockey equipment you would need to participate. Check out the schedule above for our next floor hockey activity. This is a non-contact activity.
The Hockey Club cannot function without raising money to buy equipment and attend games. Each member is expected to participate in fundraising events each academic year. Don't worry, our fundraising events are designed to be fun and painless.
- Bringing Table/Air/Bubble Hockey Games to SCC's Campuses
The easiest way to "grow the game" on campus is to bring hockey-related activities to the campuses so that anyone could participate. With that in mind, a goal of The Hockey Club is to raise the necessary funds needed to purchase hockey table games for all students to enjoy.
- Attending Collegiate or Professional Hockey Games
Who wouldn't want to go to a hockey game? Through fundraising, The Hockey Club can attend collegiate games and tour campuses. Examples would include attending a game at the University of Iowa or Iowa State University. A future goal is to plan a student trip to an NHL game of the club's choice.
- Recruiting Members
Each member is responsible for brainwashing their friends in to becoming hockey fans (and therefore joining the club).
- Other cool activities (get the joke there?)
