SCC Press Release

SCC Foundation Scholarship Deadline for Fall Awards is April 1

Are you attending SCC in the fall and need help with college tuition? Thanks to generous endowments and contributions from numerous friends, the Southeastern Community College Foundation (SCCF) offers around 300 scholarship awards totaling nearly $200,000 to students enrolling at SCC. Awards range from $150 to full tuition and books. The deadline for applying is 4:30PM on April 1.

Two other scholarships share the April 1 deadline as well.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) STEM scholarship is open to students who intend to enter into a program or work towards a degree in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM). More than ten scholarships are available to eligible students.

In 2012, Local business owner, Lawrence Matteson, and his wife Marilyn, established the L.W. Matteson Endowed Scholarship fund to assist 12 SCC students entering a career or technical field. The Mattesons recently expanded student eligibility to include those enrolling in health occupations. Now, starting in fall 2013, 16 deserving students will benefit from the Mattesons' generosity. A total of four health occupations students, four pre-engineering students, two agriculture students and six career and technical program students will be eligible for renewable scholarships of up to $2,000 each.

In addition, four graduating SCC Matteson scholars who continue their education at another institution will be eligible to renew their Matteson scholarships. These continuation scholarships will be managed by the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend.

The application deadline for consideration for all 2013-2014 scholarships, including the NSF STEM and L. W. Matteson Endowed scholarships, is 4:30PM April 1.

Applicants must complete a single comprehensive online application, and provide at least one letter of reference, current school transcripts, and most recent financial information including their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) documentation.
