The SCCAA Begins With...You!!
College experiences are different for everyone. Maybe you entered SCC right after graduating from high school. Perhaps you were a "non- traditional" student challenged by the obstacles of child care, managing a household and a job. You may have completed just one credit class or graduated as a full-time student. And, your education at SCC might have been financed by an employer, your parents, or your own hard work. It is likely, however, that you have reflected on the events of the past on at least a few occasions. Now there's a way to build on those SCC memories and help make some new ones, too.
Purpose Of The SCCAA
With those thoughts in mind, an Alumni Association was formed in 1991. The SCCAA Board of Directors established by-laws and the following mission statement:
"...to encourage lifelong interest in Southeastern Community College by its alumni and friends by creating an atmosphere which promotes positive feelings and interactions between the college and its alumni through a variety of actions, events, services, and communication."
Adopted July 31, 1991,amended March 30, 1992.
Privileges Of SCCAA Membership
Why join? Benefits of joining the Southeastern Community College Alumni Association include:
- discounts on SCC imprinted merchandise
- use of the College libraries
- use of the computer labs for a minimal fee (for approved purposes; reservations required)
- on-campus use of audio visual equipment and materials
- newsletters from the College and the Alumni Association
- invitations to Homecoming events
Your SCC Alumni Association membership will also entitle you to information about the Alumni Volunteer Corps, the Annual Golf Outing Fundraiser, Distinguished Alumni Awards and Scholarships, the SCC Scholarship Foundation and various athletic booster clubs and events.
How The SCCAA Operates
Membership fees are used to defray the costs of printing and mailing membership cards, newsletters and invitations. Donations and the annual Golf Outing help fund "Distinguished Alumni", "Outstanding Faculty" and Alumni Scholarship awards, while minimal registration fees cover the cost of homecoming and other events. Alumni Office staff expenses are paid by Southeastern Community College.
