The SCC Foundation is now accepting applications for scholarships for students who plan to attend SCC in the fall. Applications will be accepted until 4:30PM CDT, March 1, 2017.

Blackhawks Coach Terry Carroll Retires, Hands Reins to Lorenzo Watkins
SCC Men's Basketball program has a new coach. Terry Carroll has retired as Head Coach and Assistant Coach Lorenzo Watkins has been named Interim Head Coach. The transition became official on January 3.
SCC Instructor Trisha Hopper Honored by Iowa Business Education Association
SCC's Administrative Assistant Program Instructor/Coordinator Trisha Hopper was recognized as Iowa Outstanding Post-Secondary Business Educator by the Iowa Business Education Association at its annual conference in Des Moines last month.
SCC Visiting Writers Series Welcomes Tony Flesher & Strummer Hoffston, Saturday, November 12
SCC's Culture on Campus Committee will host a Visiting Writers Series event Saturday, November 12, at 8:00 p.m. on its West Burlington campus. Scheduled to appear are poets Tony Flesher and Strummer Hoffston, two writers from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop in Iowa City. SCC's Di Dante Literature & Writing Club will co-host.
FAFSA Ready Iowa Comes to SCC Nov 2
SCC will offer free assistance to persons need help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at its FAFSA Ready Iowa event on Wednesday, November 2 at both the West Burlington and Keokuk campuses. The event will take place from 3 to 7 p.m.
SCC to Host Health Professions Center Ribbon Cutting, Open House October 28
Southeastern Community College will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house for its new Health Professions Center on the West Burlington campus at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 28. The event is free and open to the public.
SCC Zombie Walk Lurches Toward Its Sixth Year, Arrives October 14
SCC's Keokuk campus Drama Club will host its annual Zombie Walk 2016 on Friday, October 14. The walk will begin at Estes Park at Fifth and Main Street in Keokuk. Registration starts at 5:00 p.m. The contest starts promptly at 6:00 p.m., with walk to follow.
SCC to Host Dirty Hawk 5K on October 29
SCC will host the first-ever Dirty Hawk 5K on Saturday, October 29 in West Burlington. This mud run will take racers on a 5K loop, over, through and around SCC's West Burlington campus with plenty of obstacles along the way.
SCC Names Artist in Residence, Hosts Benefit Show October 1
SCC recently named Lori Wilson as the newest Artist in Residence to build music outreach programming. It will also host Make the Music Last benefit concert on October 1 at the Capitol Theater in Burlington.

The 21st annual SCC Alumni Association Golf Outing is set for Friday, July 15 at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.
SCC Awards 2016 Summer K12 Teacher Externships
Five teachers from Southeast Iowa were chosen to participate in the Southeast Iowa Summer Externship Program through SCC. These externships are designed to give K12 teachers real-world experience in local businesses related to their field of expertise.

Respiratory Care Students Win Sputum Bowl Trophy 5th Straight Year
SCC Respiratory Care students took first place at this year's Sputum Bowl competition in Des Moines for the fifth year in a row. Students Cheryl Gries, Kelsey Brackelsberg and Madeline Helminiak won first place. Another SCC team comprised of fellow students Anthony Schulte, Jen Bowling and Tressa Harrison took third place.
Sports Shooting Receives Gifts from Pheasants Forever, Quail Forever
The SCC Sport Shooting team recently received $4000 in donations from two area conservation organizations. Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever each donated $2000 to the team. The monies will be used to pay for a special trailer the team will use to store and transport gear.
Henry, Hickey Named SCC 2016 Distinguished Alumni
The SCC Alumni Association named James Walker Henry and Mike Hickey as recipients of its Distinguished Alumni awards for 2016.
Kidtek U Give Kids Chance to Explore Interests
Registration for SCC's popular Kidtek U summer learning program will open at STEMFest on April 23, on SCC's West Burlington campus from 10AM to 2PM. Regular open registration will start on Monday, April 25. Registrations will be accepted via phone, in person, or online at www.kidteku.com.

Trustees Approve Sale of Ft. Madison Center
Southeastern Community College Board of Trustees authorized the sale of SCC's Fort Madison Center at 1602 Avenue F to Harmony Bible Church.
