Samuel Clemens Short Story Writing Contest Winners Announced

The winners of the 12th SCC Samuel Clemens Short Story Contest have been announced. SCC student Kim Boomershine of Wapello took first place honors (and a check for $150) with her tale “Nuisance/Noose-ance”; second place (and $75) went to Mary J. Davis of Montrose for her “Mighty Desperados”; and the story “Country Neighbors” by Duane Taylor of Warsaw, IL , won third place and a check for $40.

Ms. Boomershine’s winning narrative will appear in this spring’s edition of the SCC literary magazine Chiaroscuro. Judges for this year’s contest were SCC English instructors and staff. SCC would like to extend its appreciation to all who entered and would like to encourage all of you to submit your own stories this fall.
