SCC Board of Trustees Name Officers for 2010-2011
At its October meeting, the Southeastern Community College Board of Trustees named new officers for the 2010-2011 school year.
Moudy Nabulsi of Fort Madison was elected Board Chair. Brian Roth of Mount Pleasant was elected Board Vice Chair. Sherry Zeller was re-elected as Board Secretary, Bill Meck was re-elected to serve as Board Treasurer.
Nabulsi has served on the SCC Board since 1993 and brings a strong community and business perspective. He also serves as the Board’s representative to the Iowa Association of Community College (IACCT) Board and also serves on prestigious committees of the American Association of Community College Trustees (AACCT).
Dr. Simone stated, “It is an honor to work with Mr. Nabulsi on behalf of the students and staff of SCC. He brings a unique and valued perspective to Board discussions from his years of business leadership, international experience, and national leadership in community colleges. He is always concerned about how our students succeed and how their knowledge and skills add value to the communities in which they live. I value Moudi’s ideas and his dedication to SCC.”
As Board Chair, Mr. Nabulsi works with the other Board members and President Simone to identify and address the challenges faced by SCC in meeting the varied and diverse needs of the students and communities served. He serves as the official voice for the SCC Board of Trustees and represents the Board at regional, state and national forums.
Brian Roth of Mount Pleasant was elected Board Vice Chair. Roth has served as a Trustee since 1999 and brings to the Board many years of valued experience in business as well as community volunteerism.
Dr. Simone stated that the year ahead will be filled with opportunities and challenges for SCC. “A strong Board is vital as SCC works to achieve its vision and mission to serve as a leader in lifelong learning for the residents of district. Everyone here at SCC values the board members’ service and dedication.”
