Trustees Select Dr. Michael Ash As New President
The Southeastern Community College Board of Trustees has selected Dr. Michael L. Ash as the new college president. The details of Ash’s contract and his official start date have not yet been finalized but will be voted on at a future Board of Trustees meeting.
Ash was chosen after the Board of Trustees held formal interviews of three candidates on July 30 and 31. Input gathered from Open Public Forums held at the West Burlington and Keokuk campuses attended by SCC faculty, staff, and the public was considered by the Board in making the selection. An opportunity for public input was also provided at the July 31 Board meeting after the last candidate’s interview.
“We are very pleased to make this announcement,” said Brian Roth, Chair of the Southeastern Community College Board of Trustees. “This has been an extensive search, with many highly qualified candidates applying for the position. Dr. Ash was selected as the best candidate to advance the college’s mission of providing accessible, quality programs and services which promote student success and economic vitality with his energetic leadership style, administrative experience, and vision for the future. The Board of Trustees extends its full support to him as he moves forward.”
Roth praised the work of the 15 member presidential search committee which consisted of college and community representatives, citing the many hours devoted to the search and interview process. “This was a thorough process carried out with great integrity,” said Roth. “The Board is indebted to the committee members for their contributions to a successful search.”
