SCC to Co-Host 2014 NJCAA Division I Men’s Golf National Tournament
Top qualifying NJCAA Division I Men’s Golf student-athletes from across the nation will be rolling into Burlington’s Spirit Hollow Golf Course to participate in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Men’s Golf National Tournament May 13-16, 2014. More than 20 teams from community colleges across the nation will compete for team and individual titles.
The tournament travels across the country with colleges and golf courses vying to host the event every year. Southeastern Community College and Spirit Hollow Golf bid to host the tournament to the NJCAA in October, 2013 and were selected to host this prestigious event in 2014.
“Southeastern Community College and Spirit Hollow Golf Course are honored to be selected to host next year’s tournament. Having the opportunity to host a NJCAA National Tournament is a great thing for our community,” said Melissa Navntoft, Tournament Director and Women’s Athletic Coordinator.
Spirit Hollow will host a Fall Championship Preview tournament in October at Spirit Hollow and a District Qualifier tournament in April, 2014. This preview event gives student-athletes an opportunity to play at Spirit Hollow and to compete against other potential championship hopefuls.
“We’re honored to host the NJCAA Men’s Golf National Tournament in 2014,” said Jim Wyffels, Director of Golf, Spirit Hollow Golf Course. “We are also excited to host two events leading up to the Championship.”
