SCC and Iowa Wesleyan College to Ink Comprehensive Cooperative Agreement
West Burlington, IA- Southeastern Community College and Iowa Wesleyan College (IWC) of Mount Pleasant will sign an extensive cooperative enrollment agreement at an event that will take place at 10:00am on Tuesday, January 21 in the Board Room on SCC’s West Burlington campus.
IWC President Steven Titus and SCC President Michael Ash will confirm the “Memorandum of Cooperative Enrollment Agreements” which updates and combines policies and practices between the two institutions into a single document. They will also share remarks and field questions about the agreement.
Updates include Reciprocal Student I.D. cards and privileges, a transfer agreement for SCC students holding Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees, cooperative use of educational services and facilities, and a streamlined dual admission process.
Student benefits under this agreement range from being able to count one institution’s classes as part of the other school’s course load, and being able to take advantage of specified services offered through either school (e.g. library, institutionally sponsored events, computer labs), to guaranteed admission to Iowa Wesleyan College at the time of admission to SCC.
On average, nearly 50 students per year enroll at IWC following their studies at SCC.
All currently-enrolled SCC and IWC students will benefit from the new agreement. In addition to taking advantage of a more seamless transition and shared services between colleges, students will no longer have to travel outside the region to earn a four-year degree.
Iowa Wesleyan College will continue to offer informational and advising services, Mondays, on a bi-weekly basis at SCC’s West Burlington campus for participating students and persons interested in learning more.
