How To Become An SCC Student

  • Complete the Application
  • Send a copy of your final high school or GED transcript and any college transcripts to the Registrar's office.
  • Apply for financial aid by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA helps determine your eligibility for Pell grants, SEOG, state grants, college work-study programs and student loans. Be sure to apply for SCC Foundation Scholarships. Over $230,000 of assistance are awarded every year. (Illinois students attending through the Carl Sandburg agreement should contact CSC regarding scholarship opportunities.)
  • Complete placement testing or provide ACT scores that have been taken within the last two years.
  • Complete an orientation session before the start of your first semester. (You will receive information in the mail from our enrollment staff after you submit your Application for Admission.) Orientation will help you better understand college policies, guidelines, degree requirements and course scheduling to help you get started here at SCC.
  • After your orientation and placement requirements are completed, you can register via your HawkNet or make an appointment to visit with an enrollment specialist to discuss your academic plan.
