SCC Hosts Blackhawk Tower Open House on Friday, Jan 6

Southeastern Community College will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house for its new Blackhawk Tower Residence Hall on the West Burlington campus at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 6. The event is free and open to the public.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m., with the open house immediately following. Visitors can tour the facility, talk with staff and students, and get an up-close look at the new student suites.

Blackhawk Tower, a four-story residence hall that can accommodate up to 123 students. The ground floor includes a student commons area with activity and study spaces, and laundry facilities. The top three floors contain 30 four-person suites and 3 single-person suites.

The ground floor also includes space for a future food court. Students will continue to use the existing Blackhawk Cafe. 

The facility replaces SCC's three residence halls, Winegard Hall, Witte Hall, and MIllennium Hall.

This facility is a joint venture between SCC and Campus Community Developers, a local private development firm.
