Chrisman Named New VP of Technology Services

Southeastern Community College recently named Chuck Chrisman as its new Vice President of Technology Services.

Chrisman has been with SCC for over 25 years. As the Executive Director of Technology Services, he has worked on all aspects of distance learning, instructional technology, information technology and institutional research.

"Whether someone is accessing their email or teaching class with our virtual reality zSpaces, Chuck and his team are responsible for making it happen," explains Dr. Ash.

Chrisman was also a founding member of the Iowa Community College Online Consortium (ICCOC) in 1999 and served as its first director from 2000 through 2003. He continues to provide technical oversight for the Consortium, which shares online courses, staff, and resources among seven participating Iowa community colleges.

"The part of my job that I enjoy the most is watching our students succeed," Chrisman says. "In my new role, I look forward to collaborating with the SCC team to continue offering the best programs, services, and support for our students."

SCC President Dr. Michael Ash recognizes that technology is critical in higher education.

"We have the latest technology in our classrooms, we offer online courses, and we will continue to keep up with the fast-paced changes in this realm," he says.

Chrisman is pleased to accept his new role and reflects on why he enjoys his career.

"It is rewarding to witness students reaching their educational and career goals," he says. "I am lucky to work with people who are passionate about preparing students for the next phase of their lives."
