SCC Takes Audience Into the Woods

SCC music and drama students will perform the musical Into the Woods at the Burlington Capitol Theater on March 29 and 30 at 7 p.m.

SCC instructor Leigh Pirtle returns as musical director with student Nolan Quade by her side as the stage director.

Pirtle is proud of the efforts her students have put into bring the musical to life.

"The students were ecstatic to take on this musical," says Pirtle. "We've got a talented cast who have worked incredibly hard all semester: weekends, spring break. They are dedicated and ready to put on a fantastic performance next weekend.

Pirtle notes that Into the Woods really became mainstream when the musical hit movie theaters in recent years.

With cameos from classic Brothers Grimm characters such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel, the story follows a couple who go on a scavenger hunt through the woods to reverse a curse put on them by a witch.

"No matter what age you are, this is a fun musical," say Pirtle. "The audience is in for a real treat."

Tickets will be available at the door. Regular tickets are $10, tickets for children and students are $7.
