SCC Ag Department Hosting SCC Blackhawk Preview Show, May 9 And 10
The Southeastern Community College (SCC) Agriculture Department will host its second annual SCC Blackhawk Preview Show at the Des Moines County Fairgrounds on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10. The event includes an Iowa Junior Beef Breeds Association cattle show on Saturday and an Iowa Junior Swine Association hog show on Sunday. Weigh-ins for both shows begins at 8 a.m., showing starts at 9 a.m.
SCC Respiratory Care Students Take Home Sputum Bowl Trophy For Fourth Year In A Row
Southeastern Community College (SCC) Respiratory Care students took first place at this year's Sputum Bowl competition in Des Moines for the fourth year in a row. SCC Respiratory Care students, Alicia Tripp, Brooke Wolkenhauer, and Chelsea Craine all represented SCC at the state-wide event.

SCC Student Janel Orton Awarded Phi Theta Kappa's Guistwhite Scholarship
SCC student and Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) member, Janel Orton, was awarded PTK's Guistwhite Scholarship for 2015. Orton was selected for the $5,000 scholarship from a pool of over 1,700 applicants from community colleges across the nation.
SCC Hires New Volleyball Coach, Erin Davidson
Southeastern Community College (SCC) has hired Erin Davidson as Head Coach of the SCC Blackhawks Women's Volleyball Program. Coach Davidson joins SCC from York College in York, Nebraska. As a player for York College, Davidson earned multiple conference honors as a setter and libero. Davidson was also named to the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference First and Second All-Conference Teams. Davidson ended her playing career with over 2,200 assists and 1,300 digs. Description

Southeastern Community College (SCC) will be hosting the Southeast Iowa Regional Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Festival (STEMFest) at its West Burlington campus on April 25, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. SCC is partnering with the Southeast Iowa STEM Hub, local businesses and manufacturers and educators for the event.

April 1 Deadline for Nearly $250,000 in Scholarships from SCC Foundation
West Burlington, IA- The Southeastern Community College (SCC) Foundation online scholarship applications will be accepted until April 1, 2015 from persons enrolling at SCC starting next fall. More than 300 scholarships totaling nearly $250,000 will be available for awarding by the SCC Foundation for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Four students from SCC's Agriculture Program will represent the college in the Soil Specialist and Career Progress Ruminant Animal Nutrition divisions after competing in Iowa's Postsecondary Agricultural Student Organization (PAS) Spring Conference. PAS is one of 11 career and technical student organizations that are approved by the U. S. Department of Education as an integral part of career and technical education.
