Southeastern Community College, Iowa Fertilizer Company Sign Preliminary Training Agreement
Southeastern Community College and Iowa Fertilizer Company LLC have entered into a Preliminary Industrial New Jobs Training agreement for the purpose of establishing a new jobs training program to educate and train certain persons employed at the company's new plant in Wever, Iowa. On October 28, 2013 the two parties reaffirmed the agreement to continue to work to establish a new jobs training program.
SCC Launches Push to Get Students to Complete Their GED
Persons who have started taking the GED Tests to earn a high school equivalency diploma have until the end of 2013 to complete the tests or risk having to start over. The GED Testing Service will change its testing system starting in 2014. The current version of the GED test, known as the 2002 Series GED test, will be discontinued in December. The scores will expire with the current GED test series and persons will have to begin testing again to earn their high school equivalency diploma.
Third Annual Keokuk Zombie Walk Friday, October 11
Southeastern Community College Keokuk campus Drama Club will host Undead Invasion: Keokuk Zombie Walk on Friday, October 11. The walk will begin at Estes Park at 5th and Main Street in Keokuk. The walk starts at 6:00 p.m. Registration and a demonstration will start at 5:30 p.m.
Innovation Leads to Increased Enrollment at SCC
SCC released its unofficial fall enrollment numbers at its meeting of the Board of Trustees on Monday. Fall headcount grew 3.6% to 3,225 students. Credit hour enrollment increased by 1.7% to 31,755.
SCC's Fifth Annual Dan Ring Memorial Bike Ride Set for Saturday, September 14
The Fifth Annual Dan Ring Memorial Bike Ride will take place on September 14, 2013, at Southeastern Community College's West Burlington campus. Funds raised from the event will support the Daniel Anders Ring Memorial Endowed Nursing Scholarship. The ride will follow the Burlington area bike route (approximately 15 miles). There will also be a 3-mile kids' ride, an extended 50-mile ride, and a 3-mile fun walk. The activities begin at 9:00 am with registration beginning at 8:30 am. Registration is $20.
SCC to Request Renewal of Bond Levy on September 10 Ballot
Persons voting in the September 10, 2013 school board election will see a ballot question asking to continue a bonded levy for physical plant purposes at Southeastern Community College.

The 18th annual SCC Alumni Association Golf Outing is set for Friday, July 19 at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course with a shot-gun start at 12:30 p.m.
