2014-2015 Direct Loan
If you have not completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) do not go any further! You must complete a FAFSA in order to receive a student loan.
This website is only for those students who have received a Financial Aid award Letter from SCC. The Financial Aid Award letter indicates how much of a student loan you are eligible for. If you do not know how much you are eligible for, chances are you have not received an Award Letter.
On the next few pages you will be introduced to the steps you need to complete in order to establish a federal student loan. Depending on your borrowing status you may need to complete the following:
1. Loan Authorization Form - EVERYONE MUST COMPLETE A LOAN AUTHORIZATION FORM. This form communicates to the Financial Aid Office how much you want to borrow, and for what term you are borrowing.
2. Master Promissory Note (MPN) - IF YOU HAVE NEVER HAD A DIRECT LOAN AT SCC, you will need to complete the Direct Loan MPN process. Once you have completed the Direct Loan MPN, you will not have to complete an MPN for subsequent Direct loans.
3. Entrance Counseling - IF YOU HAVE NEVER BORROWED BEFORE AT SCC, YOU NEED TO COMPLETE ENTRANCE COUNSELING. This is a federal requirement.
4. Student Loan Game Plan - IF YOU HAVE NEVER BORROWED BEFORE AT SCC, YOU NEED TO COMPLETE THE STUDENT LOAN GAME PLAN. This will allow you to exam how career and student loan choices can affect your future financial success.
