Distinguished Alumni
The Distinguished Alumnus Award was established in 1997 by the Southeastern Community College Alumni Association to recognize and honor an alum of SCC or its predecessor colleges (Burlington Junior College, Burlington Community College, or Keokuk Community College) who has earned a minimum of 30 credit hours at SCC and achieved substantial public recognition for their accomplishments or success. Selected recipients are honored before SCC's commencement ceremony.
Nominate Someone for the SCC Distinguished Alumn Award
Nominations are accepted year round for SCC Distinguished Alumni Awards. Nominations received by September 1 are considered at the SCC Alumni Association Board's annual meeting in October for awarding the following calendar year. Awards are confirmed by the SCC Board of Trustees, announced in November, and presented at the commencement ceremonies held in May. Nominations are held for five years; if not selected for the honor after five years, a nomination is eligible for renomination. Couples or other groups of related family members can be submitted as one nomination, if desired.

Distinguished Alumni Transfer Scholarships
The SCC Alumni Association takes applications and awards at least one Distinguished Alumnus Scholarship to a graduate from the West Burlington Campus and to a graduate from the Keokuk Campus. The selected graduates must be transferring to continue their education at another post-secondary institution. Each $1,000 award is presented by and in the name of that year's Distinguished Alumnus at that student's Commencement/Graduation event.
Applications for Distinguished Alumni Transfer scholarships are due on April 1.
