MidWestOne Bank Supports SCC Expansion

08/23/2016

West Burlington, IA - Southeastern Community College's Building the Dream capital campaign has received another generous gift. MidWestOne Bank of Burlington and the MidWestOne Bank Foundation has pledged $25,000 to the project.

SCC's President, Dr. Michael Ash, says including MidWestOne's gift, the College has secured commitments of over $9.3 million of the campaign's $12 million goal.

"MidWestOne is an active player in our region's growth efforts. This gift demonstrates their commitment to the not just SCC, but the entire region. Gifts like this one help SCC provide a quality college education and career training to residents of our communities.”

Campaign coordinator Becky Rump credits former MidWestOne Bank Regional President Mike Shinn and current Regional President Jeff Burkhart for their efforts to secure funding.

“Mike started the process in 2015. When Jeff transitioned into the position earlier this year, he finished what Mike started. We couldn’t have done it without both of their hard work. For that we are thankful."

The Building the Dream capital campaign will fund SCC's construction initiative of the same name. It includes the new Health Professions Center and the Hall of Sciences on the West Burlington campus, and the Industrial Technologies Training Center on the Keokuk campus. With an estimated total project cost of $27 million, it is the largest, most comprehensive infrastructure investment undertaken by SCC since 1995.
