Dennis Wilson Supports SCC with $50k gift
Southeastern Community College’s Building the Dream capital campaign has received another major gift, this time from Burlington area businessman Dennis Wilson.
SCC President Dr. Michael Ash expressed his thanks for Wilson’s support.
“I’m elated that Dennis has thrown his support behind the college. Having a grandson currently attending SCC, he has been able to see first-hand the quality education our students receive.”
SCC Foundation Board Executive Director and campaign coordinator Becky Rump added, “Dennis is a fixture in the Burlington area and has invested in countless community endeavors over the years. We’re excited that he’s chosen to support SCC now as well.”
Building the Dream Campaign Chair, Mike Shinn echoed these sentiments, and added, “Including Dennis’ gift, we’ve secured funding commitments of over $9.3 million of our $12 million goal. It takes a village to build a college and Dennis is helping us achieve our goal.”
The Building the Dream capital campaign supports SCC’s construction initiative of the same name. It includes the new Health Professions Center and the Hall of Sciences on the West Burlington campus, and the Industrial Technologies Training Center on the Keokuk campus. With an estimated total project cost of $27 million, it is the largest, most comprehensive infrastructure investment undertaken by SCC since 1995.
