Is this a real college class?
Yes. These are the same classes that are open to regular SCC students. You'll be taught by the same faculty and sit alongside current SCC students.

Is there a cost?
No. Tuition is waived for all residents over 60 years of age.

Do I have to buy a textbook?
No. However, you may buy a book if you like. Simply visit the Blackhawk Bookstore for help buying books for your class.

Will I receive college credit?
No. Students enrolled in the senior college enrichment program will not receive college credit.

Can I get credit?
If you decide in the first two weeks of the course that you would like to receive credit for completion, contact our Enrollment Services Office. They will be happy to assist you. Tuition charges will be assessed if you would like to earn credit. In-state resident tuition and fees are $189 per credit hour.

How many classes can I take?
The current enrichment program allows participants to enroll in one class per semester.

Can I take a class that's not on this list?
No. As a new program, participants are limited to the classes on the list. We hope to be able to expand class offerings in the future.

Do I have to do the homework or take the tests?
While we encourage enrichment learners to participate in all aspects of the class to get the full benefit of the learning opportunity, completion of coursework (including doing the assignments) is not required.

Will my work be graded? Will I get a grade at the end of the class?
Instructors are not required to grade enrichment student coursework. Talk to your instructor at the start of the semester to discuss coursework.

Can this course count toward my college degree?
Classes taken through the senior college enrichment program do not count toward the completion of a college degree.
