The West Burlington and Keokuk Student Boards of Southeastern Community College are designed to promote the welfare of the college and to facilitate communication among the student body, the faculty, and administration. Members of the Student Board represent the general student body and SCC's clubs in planning, coordinating, and directing a variety of student events throughout the year. The Student Board sets up and facilitates a calendar of student-centered events, controls the activity fund and club budget allocations, appoints committees and works with SCC faculty, staff, and administration to represent the best interest of all enrolled students.
Student Board Requirements
To become a member of Student Board you must have a 2.0 GPA. Both full-time and part-time students are eligible. You may choose to be an at-large member representing the general student body or serve as the representative for one of the many clubs and organizations on campus.
The Student Board Executive Council is a five-member leadership body of the Student Board. Officer positions include: President, Vice President/Treasurer, Secretary, Student Engagement Officer: Public Relations, and Student Engagement Officer: Historian. Elections for these positions are held annually each spring for appointment during the following academic year beginning each August.
Serving on the SB Executive Council is a great way to meet new people, interact with college staff and administration, represent the needs of the student body, and develop life-long leadership skills.
