Free SCC Adult Literacy Program Seeks Tutors

The SCC Literacy Program will host a tutor training conference on Friday, September 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  at the SCC Fort Madison Center, 1602 Avenue F.  This training is for any adult who is interested in helping adult students who cannot read or who read at a sixth grade level or lower.

This program serves students living in the Fort Madison, Burlington, Mt. Pleasant and Keokuk areas.  Tutors are needed in all of these communities.

Through this program students learn to read through a one-on-one tutor/student program.  This confidential, personalized and goal-oriented approach to reading has proven successful in meeting the special needs of adult learners.

The SCC Adult Literacy Program is a non-profit organization that serves our area's non-reading adults by providing free, confidential, one-on-one tutoring.  These services are available to native and foreign-born adults.  The program is an affiliate of Pro-Literacy International.

Please call Paula Faulkner to pre-register by Wednesday, September 14 at 376-2286 or (319) 208-5306.
