Eligibility Requirements: Southeastern Community College (SCC) offers a variety of scholarships to students graduating from SCC, i.e., SCC alumni, who intend to continue their education. A candidate for any of these scholarships must be graduating from SCC with the intention of transferring to another postsecondary institution to complete a BA or BS or reenrolling at SCC to complete another postsecondary degree. There are several different funding sources for these transfer/continuation scholarships: (1) the SCC Alumni Association holds an annual golf outing to fund two $1,000 awards to deserving graduates - with one award given at each campus graduation; (2) Dr. Patt Dodds (BCC 1966 and 2007 SCC Distinguished Alumnus) established the Clint & Betty Dodds scholarship to fund at least one annual $500 award to the highest overall GPA earner at the West Burlington campus who began and ended his/her degree at SCC; and (3) Dr. Edward C. Stone (BJC 1956 and 1997 SCC Distinguished Alumnus) established the Dr. Edward C. Stone Continuation STEM Endowed Scholarship fund to provide a one-year variable amount award to the graduating SCC student with the highest GPA who intends to enroll in another institution to continue pursuing a higher education degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math program. The last two funds are managed by the SCC Foundation.
Allowable Expenses: In all cases, half of the annual award can be used for the recipient's first term tuition, fees, books, and on-campus housing expenses in the academic year immediately following your graduation from SCC. Upon satisfactory completion of the first term with a GPA of 2.5 or greater, the remainder of the award will be applied toward the allowable expenses for the recipient's second term (i.e., immediately following). If the recipient does not enroll in or continue to qualify for the second term, for any reason, the remaining award dollars will be returned to Southeastern Community College. If the recipient is qualified and has a credit balance at the end of the second term, the postsecondary institution will retain the balance for application to the recipient's allowable expenses in the following term(s). If the student graduates or leaves the postsecondary institution within the second term, the postsecondary institution shall return any credit balance to SCC.
Note: This form is used to consider you for several Alumni Association sponsored scholarships, therefore some specific donor preference questions are included in the application.
