Mini-Grant Guidelines

Grants from the SCC Alumni Association and Foundation are provided through the SCC Office for Institutional Advancement. Gifts are made possible through the generosity of donors to the SCC Alumni Association (from the annual Golf Outing) and the SCC Foundation (through the annual fund drive).

Application Deadline

SCC Alumni Association and Foundation Mini-Grant Applications are due to the SCC Office for Institutional Advancement by 4:30 p.m. on October 15 or April 15. Completed applications will be reviewed by the SCC Alumni Association (Fall) or the SCC Foundation (Spring), depending on funding availability. Each applicant will be notified of the outcome.

Eligibility

Applications may be submitted by organized SCC student groups, or individual members or groups of SCC faculty, professional staff, support staff or administrators.

Preferred Projects

Preference will be given to one-time projects and equipment requests that directly affect a large number of persons, particularly SCC students. The need, measurable outcomes, likelihood of success and matching funds are important factors that the two Boards will consider. Projects that include travel and conferences generally receive lower ratings due to the high relative cost per participant, the fact that most of our many SCC student clubs incorporate travel in their activities. Partnerships between SCC Clubs, SCC programs and between SCC and the community are encouraged because they can help stretch or leverage the funding. However, projects must provide a clear benefit to SCC, its students and its programming so that the Foundation does not risk losing its 501(c)(3) non-profit status.

Funding Parameters

Grant awards range from $100 to $1,000 each (average is $500). Applications requesting grant amounts in excess of $1,000 must be accompanied by proof of matching funds (from SCC or other sources). Funds should be used before June 30 of the current fiscal year, unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Areas Not Funded

College policy prohibits funding for political/lobbying activities and religion-related activities.

Mini-Grant Proposal

The SCC Foundation and the SCC Alumni Association offer "seed grants" to support college and instructional purposes that may be underfunded or unfunded. The intent is for mini-grant funding to leverage other funds. Before completing this form, please refer to the Mini-Grant Guidelines. Two rounds of applications will be accepted each year through 4:30 p.m. on October 15 & April 15. Only applications that have been signed by budget supervisors will be accepted. Questions?
