2014-2015 Federal Direct Loan Request Process for New Borrowers.
This is a FOUR STEP PROCESS!
You will receive a confirmation after completing step one. However, this does not mean that you have completed the entire process. Please do not forget to continue on, and completed steps two, three and four.
Follow the four simple steps below to apply for a Federal Stafford Loan online. All four steps must be completed before a Stafford Loan will be processed for you.
Step 1
First, you must complete a Loan Authorization Form. Use this form to indicate how much you would like to borrow, and for what period (school term or year) you are requesting a loan. You may wish to refer to your SCC award letter on "HawkNet" which states the amounts for which you are eligible for the 2014-2015 year. PLEASE USE INTERNET EXPLORER! Step 2
Next, you must complete the Federal Stafford Master Promissory Note (MPN). You must sign in using your FSA ID by clicking on the "Sign In" button on the left of the page. After you sign in, select the "Complete Master Promissory Note" link and follow the identified steps. | E-Sign MPN |
Step 3
All students borrowing for the first time at SCC are required to complete entrance counseling. No loan disbursements can be made unless the entrance counseling has been completed. The Entrance Counseling is complete on the same website as the MPN above. | Entrance Counseling |
Step 4
All students borrowing for the first time at SCC are required to complete the Student Loan Game Plan. Student Loan Game Plan demonstrates how student loan debt may affect your financial future.
