Professional Certification and Licensure
SCC serves as an approved testing site for recognized professional certification and licensure exams across a variety of career fields.
Whether you are earning a certification, meeting licensure requirements, or adding to your professional credentials, SCC provides a secure, professionally proctored testing environment.
What we offer
SCC offers industry-recognized certification and licensure testing in information technology, healthcare, manufacturing, dental assisting, agriculture, public safety, and other fields.
Testing is available through:
- Pearson VUE – IT, healthcare, business, skilled trades, and professional licensure
- SACA – Industrial automation, robotics, PLCs, and smart manufacturing
- Dental Board Exams – Dental assisting and radiography credentialing
- Pesticide Applicator Exams – Private and commercial applicator licensure
- Nurse Aide Exams – Written exams for registry placement
Testing services are available to SCC students, individuals who are not enrolled at SCC, employers, and the general public.
Looking for make-up exams or placement testing?
The Professional Certification and Licensure office does not provide these testing

Frequently Asked Questions
Scheduling depends on the type of exam you are taking. Pearson VUE exams are scheduled online, while all other certification exams can be scheduled through Professional Certification and Licensure
Pearson VUE Exams
- Visit Pearson VUE website
- Create username/password (if new)
- Select Southeastern Community College as your location
- Choose your date and time
- Pay online and receive a confirmation email
SACA, Dental Board, Nurse Aide, and Pesticide Exams

Pearson VUE – Yes, candidates create a Pearson VUE account.
SACA – Yes, candidates use the SACA portal.
Dental Board – No account needed. Candidates provide information that is required to sit for the exam
Nurse Aide – No account needed. Candidates provide information that is required to sit for the exam
Pesticide – Yes, candidates use the IDALS/quia.com system.
SCC collects fees only for the following exams:
- Pesticide Applicator Exams - $25 per day
- Dental Board Exam - $25 per exam
All other exams (Pearson VUE, SACE, Nurse Aide) require candidates to pay their exam sponsor directly.
Pesticide: 2 hours
SACA: 90 minutes
Dental Board: 60 minutes
Nurse Aide: 60 minutes
Pearson VUE: Depends on the sponsored test
All candidates must bring valid, unexpired government-issued identification. Some Pearson VUE exams require additional documentation.
Materials depend on the exam sponsor:
Pesticide: Calculator and scratch paper provided by SCC
SACA: No personal materials; scratch paper
Dental Board: No personal materials
Nurse Aide: No personal materials for knowledge test
Pearson VUE: Follows Pearson VUE’s strict material policy
SCC provides secure lockers for all candidates. All personal items – including phones, bags, watches, and smart watches must be stored in a locker before testing. Unless a Pearson VUE exam specifically allows certain materials, all items must remain in the locker for the duration of the exam.
Arrive 15-20 minutes before your scheduled exam.
If Pearson VUE, late arrivals may be denied entry and must reschedule through the exam sponsor. Pesticide, SACA, Dental, and Nurse Aide please reach out by phone or email.

Parking and Check-In
Park in Parking Lot A, located in front of the Hall of Sciences.
From Parking Lot A:
- Walk toward Building 200 and look for Pearson VUE signage.
- Enter the building and turn right.
- Continue past the Bookstore and enter the 200 hallway.
- Check in at Room 206B.
