Shottenkirk Automotive Group Pledges $50K to SCC Building the Dream Campaign

Southeastern Community College’s Building the Dream capital campaign has received another generous gift. Shottenkirk Automotive Group, with locations in Fort Madison, Mount Pleasant and West Burlington, has pledged $50,000.

SCC President Dr. Michael Ash says including Shottenkirk’s gift, the College has secured funding pledges of over $9.1 million of the campaign’s $12 million goal.

Greg Shottenkirk, President of Shottenkirk Automotive Group , authorized the gift.  He is a former member of the SCC Foundation Board of Directors and was engaged in the process as SCC officials fine-tuned its strategic goals.

Ash notes, “Greg understands the importance of what we want to do with the expansion initiative and has been a big supporter right from the start. For his financial pledge and for his many hours of volunteering in support of college endeavors in the past, we are truly grateful.”

The Building the Dream capital campaign will fund SCC’s expansion initiative of the same name. It includes the new Health Professions Center and the Hall of Sciences on the West Burlington campus, and the Industrial Technologies Training Center on the Keokuk campus. With an estimated total project cost of $27 million, it is the largest, most comprehensive infrastructure investment undertaken by SCC since 1995.

“Everybody wins when we support SCC, because a stronger college means a stronger region. As a business owner, I know we’re as only good as our people, and whatever SCC can do to educate and build skills of the people who live and work in our communities, the better we all are,” explains Shottenkirk.

Campaign chair Michael Shinn is extremely happy to see Shottenkirk participate so willingly in the project, “Greg was one of the first employers in the area to respond to our call to support SCC. Other business leaders are showing keen interest in the project now, too, and we credit Greg and his company with helping increase the awareness.”
