US Gypsum Supports SCC’s Dream with $50,000 Gift

10/31/2016

Southeastern Community College’s Building the Dream capital campaign has received another major gift, this time $50,000 from US Gypsum (USG) of Sperry, Iowa.

“USG is a company founded on hope and optimism,” says SCC President Dr. Michael Ash. “People buy USG products when they want to make investments in their future. That’s what we’re doing here at SCC with the new Health Professions Center. We’re investing in the future of the residents of our region. We’re happy to have USG as a community partner in that future.”

“US Gypsum is a unique company within our region,” says Building the Dream Campaign Chair Mike Shinn. “We appreciate USG and the many roles it plays in local, regional and national economic development. It’s great that this community spirit has reached such a regional level through this project. Thanks to the USG gift, we’re coming closer and closer to our $12 million goal. Working together, I know we’ll get there.”

The Building the Dream capital campaign supports SCC’s construction initiative of the same name. It includes the new Health Professions Center and the Hall of Sciences on the West Burlington campus, and the Industrial Technologies Training Center on the Keokuk campus. With an estimated total project cost of $27 million, it is the largest, most comprehensive infrastructure investment undertaken by SCC since 1995.
