Become a Trustees Scholar

You worked hard all through high school – good grades, extracurricular activities, service projects. Your teachers and parents said it'd be worth it.

How does free college sound?

SCC offers scholarships to hundreds of deserving students each year. Two of the prized scholarships are the Trustees Honors Scholarship and the Trustees Diversity Scholarship. These cover full tuition and required books for up to two years.

That's right. They're full-ride scholarships.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The Southeastern Community College Board of Trustees Honors Scholarship is awarded to the valedictorian and salutatorian of the graduating class in any state accredited public or parochial high school in Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri.

The scholarship covers all tuition and books and is renewable for a second year of enrollment.

GUIDELINES

1) Student must be the valedictorian or salutatorian according to cumulative grade point average in the graduating class.

2) The Honors Scholarship may be used up to a maximum of four regular academic terms (Fall, Spring, Fall, Spring) and summer enrollment in two academic years, or until the completion of an Associate Degree, whichever comes first.

3) Student must successfully complete 12 hours of credit and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.50 to remain eligible for this scholarship each semester. The 12-hour minimum is not applicable during summer sessions.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

1) The Statement of Acceptance shall be submitted to the Financial Aid Office.

2) Submit a completed application for admission to SCC.

3) Submit a copy of high school transcript to the Registrar's Office.

4) The notification deadline shall be August 1 of the student's year of graduation. Declarations at a later date will be considered on an individual basis.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP

The Southeastern Community College Board of Trustees Diversity Scholarship is available to students from select ethnic-racial backgrounds. Applicants must graduate from any state accredited public or parochial high school in Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri.

The scholarship covers all tuition and books and is renewable for a second year of enrollment.

GUIDELINES

1) Backgrounds as defined by the 2017 US Census Bureau include: 

a. American Indian or Alaska Native
b. Asian
c. Black or African American
d. Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander
e. Hispanic, Latino or Spanish origin (may be of any race)

2) Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA or be in the upper 50% of their graduating class to be eligible. The award is renewable for a second year of enrollment, provided the recipient maintains appropriate eligibility criteria.

3) The Diversity Scholarship may be used up to a maximum of four regular academic terms and summer enrollment (does not need to be full-time) in two academic years or until the completion of an Associate Degree, whichever comes first.


APPLICATION PROCEDURE

1) Submit a completed application for admission to SCC.

2) Complete the FAFSA application process

3) Send the completed Trustees Diversity Scholarship Application to Enrollment Services
