Great River Health partnership details

How do I get the $8,000 from Great River Health?

Nursing students who complete their first semester in the nursing program (LPN or ADN) and commit to working for Great River Health after graduation will receive $8,000 directly from Great River Health.

Nursing students can commit at any time after they successfully complete their first semester.

How are the monies awarded?

Great River Health awards the full amount of $8,000 to students once they sign a letter of intent to accept an employment offer.

Once Great River Health processes the letter, students will receive monies directly from Great River Health soon after.

Can I apply for SCC scholarships even if I get the $8,000 from Great River Health?

Yes. Receiving the monies from Great River Health does not disqualify you from scholarships offered through the SCC Foundation. As a matter of fact,we encourage you to apply for SCC Foundation scholarships. We offer quite a few scholarships specifically for nursing students and the process to apply is relatively simple and straightforward.

Will this money impact my financial aid?

Every student and family's financial situation is different and so that's hard to say. These monies are paid directly to students from Great River Health. It may impact your financial aid and amount of loans you can or need to borrow. The timing of when a student signs the agreement and accepts the monies will impact to what extent they will impact any college financial aid.

Do I get a guaranteed interview?

Yes. All students who successfully complete the ADN program will be guaranteed a job interview with Great River Health. They will be eligible for positions available  at that time at one of their locations across Southeast Iowa.

If I receive the monies and I'm offered a job at a Great River Health Systems location and I decide not to take it, do I have to pay it back?

Yes.

While we hope you do choose to work for Great River Health Systems, we understand that circumstances change. In the event you decide to not accept employment, Great River Health will work with you to arrange repayment.

Terms and conditions of repayment will be set by Great River Health.

If I leave the nursing program before I graduate, do I have to pay back the monies?

Yes. Students who do not complete the program or who do not obtain licensure to work in Iowa will be required to repay the monies to Great River Health.
