Getting started

Your first step in becoming a Mount Mercy student is to apply. Applications are free and always available; students can be accepted up to one year before their start date.

  • Go to your FAFSA and add MOUNT MERCY UNIVERSITY under the "school selection". This will allow you to see how much financial aid you will qualify for. If you have any questions, please contact the Mt. Mercy Office of Financial Aid at (319) 368-6467 or finaid@mtmercy.edu.
  • You can access your application on the Application Landing Page or through the MMU website
  • We can review your application using your unofficial SCC transcripts, but you will need to request for official transcripts to be sent to MMU before we register you for classes.
  • If you have never applied to MMU as a student, you will need to create a portal account. (see screenshot)

  • Mount Mercy serves a variety of student populations, so it is important that you access the correct choices within the application. When you see this screen, it is important that you select the middle option (Accelerated/Online). We know that you will not be taking online classes, this is the option that places you into the partnership program. If you select ‘undergraduate’ it will be assumed that you are coming to MMU main campus in Cedar Rapids.

  • You will need to select this option again on the ‘Enrollment Information’ page of the application.
