Drone Flight Basics
Curious about flying drones but not sure where to start? This hands-on course is designed for beginners and hobbyists, age 13 years and up, interested in learning how to safely and confidently operate drones. Taught by a certified FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot, this course covers the fundamentals of drone operation, types of drones, basic safety protocols, airspace awareness, and an introduction to key FAA rules and regulations. Students will get hands on flight time in a controlled environment. While this is not a Part 107 test prep course, students will gain foundational knowledge to understand what's involved in flying responsibly for personal or commercial use.
Note: Participants must bring a GPS-enabled drone (under 5 lbs) that is fully functional
and ready to fly. No prior experience is needed. Required materials include the drone
and controller, fully charged batteries, flight apps (e.g., DJI Fly, B4UFLY) downloaded
in advance and pair to your drone and have your software updated. **FAA registration
