Health careers start at SCC!
Interested in health care career? SCC is a great place to start. This academy provides a strong foundation of skills used across disciplines while exposing you to the wide variety of careers and specialties available.
These courses prepare students to enter all SCC health programs:
EMS, Medical Assistant, Nursing, Radiologic Technology, and Respiratory Care.
These classes also transfer to most colleges and universities across the Midwest.
Where are classes offered?
Classes are held on the West Burlington Campus, Keokuk campus, and participating high schools.
What kind of classes will I take?
- Medical Terminology
- Medical Law & Ethics
- Human Relations
How long does it take?
Academy length varies depending on the number of courses taken but cam be completed in one year.
How many college credits can I earn?
Students who complete this academy will earn 5 or more hours of college credit that can transfer to SCC's health programs.
What do I get when I complete the academy?
Students who complete this academy can earn Healthcare Assistant or Patient Access Associate Certificate.
What can I do after high school?
Keep going!
Students who complete the Health Prep Academy will be able to apply completed coursework toward any of SCC’s health programs as they earn their specialized credential.
